We asked Google and five AI answer engines the questions people in Mauritius ask about eight sectors, in English and French, and counted which websites they showed. Every figure comes from public answers, and the raw data is published below.

How it is measured
Each edition asks a frozen set of questions about categories, never about people. Changing a single question starts a new question set, and editions are compared only within one set.
A share counts the AI answers that cited a site, out of the answers that listed sources we could attribute to a website. An answer that failed, or whose sources were unreadable redirects, is left out of that count instead of being counted as citing nobody.
Google positions are the top 10 organic results for the same question, asked from Mauritius. The figures describe what was shown on the day of the edition; they do not explain why.
The short summary under each sector is written by an AI model from those figures alone and is marked as such. Everything else on this page is counted, not estimated.

Where does the index's data come from?
From a frozen set of category questions asked of Google and of Perplexity, Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini and Google AI Overview on the day of each edition. Only websites that appear in those public answers are recorded; no personal data is collected.
Can a business ask to be removed from the index?
Yes. Email hello@umbodi.ai from an address at your domain and it is removed from the page and the raw data at the next build. The share figures of other sites do not change.
