A check is one engine’s answer to one question. The questions are Google’s “People also ask” questions for the keywords we track, plus the questions our own pages answer. Every check is in the raw data; none was removed for its result.
The engines are queried through their APIs with web search: Perplexity, Anthropic web search, OpenAI web search, Gemini, and Google’s AI Overview read through a search-results provider. These are not the consumer apps, and what they cite can differ.
A site is a host: the address with the scheme, “www.” and the path removed. So docs.github.com and github.com count separately. The share is of answers that returned at least one source.
A question is counted only if it contains one of these terms. Every question the rule left out is listed below.

What this is not: a ranking of quality, a measure of traffic, or a statement about any company named here. It records which sources these engines returned, for these questions, on these dates.
Every check is in observatory.json: the question, the engine, when it was asked, whether umbodi.ai was cited, and the source URLs the engine returned. The answer text is not included. Every figure on this page is computed from that file. The data is licensed CC BY 4.0: reuse it freely, crediting the Umbodi Citation Observatory.

Questions that name Umbodi are reported separately, because Umbodi is their subject. Questions that contain none of the listed topic terms are left out as off-topic, and every one of them is listed on this page.
